Day Services
DAY SERVICE
At Acorn Farm we run a Day Service for people with disabilities, who work on the farm whilst gaining new skills for their own development and future employment.
There are 3 main areas of work people we support can get involved in here at the farm: animal care, horticulture and farm maintenance
To find out more about our Day Service, please contact us.
Animal care activities include collecting and grading the eggs and feeding and mucking out the animals. During the school holidays there are additional opportunities available including helping with horse rides and the small animal petting sessions.
Horticultural activities range from making hanging baskets and restocking the Plant Sales area to planting seeds and helping to maintain the sensory garden, lawns and flower beds.
Farm Maintenance activities include building new animal shelters, woodwork such as making new benches and picnic tables for the farm, painting, plumbing and repairing fences.
The people we support will also be offered further opportunities to progress, develop and widen their skills through taking part in additional activities and courses. Previous activities have included football sessions, a healthy cookery course and Zumba.
Please note: There is a daily charge for such activities and unfortunately we are unable to accept volunteers or provide work experience placements.
